Curriculum - 06 - Julia Valdés

Julia Valdés Borrero 's life has been dedicated to art. Born in 1952 in Santiago de Cuba, the daughter of a sculptor began to study art at her hometown. After that she went to "San Alejandro" in Havana, were she also studied at the local university the history of arts. Back in Santiago de Cuba, she became director of the new Academy of Arts, president of the artists union and founder of the group "Antille".
Her paintings got 25 times honored and have been 125 times and in 18 countries exposed. Her murals adorn many public squares and buildings in Cuba and in Latinamerica.

"The works of Julia Valdés, one of the most active personalities in the contemporary art of Cuba, do not only posess great aesthetical value, but do also present a progresive asimilation of the concepts that unite our world".
