Rubén Rodriguez Martinez, born 1959 in Matanzas, began his studies at an art school in Las Villas and finished them at ENA, the National Art School in Havana. He is the founder of the graphic workshop "René Portocarrero" and gives master-classes at the Miro-foundation in Spain. His curriculum includes 75 expositions in 20 countries and participations at 3 biennials. His works received 6 awards and can be found in 11 museums.

"A work of art has to evoke ideas and emotions. The ones of Rubén Rodríguez evoke a feeling of uneasy pleasure. The human body, the probably oldest and most repeated subject of art, has in Rubén a creator sui generis, who repeats this motive without tryig to draw comparisons, while still containing the various stages of art".
